Bob and Marie-Josee have been happily married for 40 years. She came to know the Lord in the spiritual awakening in Quebec in the 1970’s, is a graduate of London Baptist Bible College and St. Lawrence College, a registered nurse, and avid long-distance runner. They are the proud parents of Genevieve and Matthew and have been blessed with 6 grandchildren, Alexandra, Ethan, Benjamin, Sophie, Liam, and Hannah. Bob was saved by God’s sovereign grace as a boy and his favourite Bible verse is John 3:16. He has been privileged to pastor 4 different congregations in Ontario and presently enjoys his role as an elder at Emmanuel. His desire is that our church continues to be a warm, no-frills, exuberant group of believers who live to glorify God and to seek the lost with the good news of Christ. Bob holds a B.Sc. degree in agriculture (University of Guelph) and a M.Div. degree (London Baptist Seminary). He also enjoys gardening, reading, and baseball.
Georges M. Pierre served as a pastor and church planter in Haiti for many years. He became an elder at Emmanuel Baptist Church in 2013. Georges and his wife Marie have been married for 41 years. They have raised 3 (now adult) children: Nathan, Osni and Vanessa. All are serving the Lord with passion. Georges is a graduate with a BTH from Seminaire de Theologie Evangelique de Port au Prince (STEP) in Haiti. He likes the outdoors, teaching, biking and surfing.
Denis and Peggy have been married for 30 years and have a son, Daniel, daughter-in-law, Josephine and 2 grandchildren: Julia and Jonah. They enjoy serving Christ at Emmanuel in various capacities. Originally from Pennsylvania, Peggy is a faithful and loving wife. She enjoys animals and computer work. Denis was saved in his early twenties. He has a growing passion for evangelism and believes that prayer is essential for any endeavour to be successful. His concern is that the Church truly commits itself to prayer, witness, and worship in our service of Christ. Denis graduated from Toronto Baptist College and Seminary with a BTH degree. He enjoys the outdoors, fishing, biking and cooking.
Josiah Newton grew up in the States and moved to Canada with his parents and 9 siblings when he was 10. He met his wife, Jenn Newton, in 2013 and they have been married since 2015. They now have 3 children and enjoy collecting and reading books, going for nature walks and doing home projects. In 2020 he was called to be one of the elders at Emmanuel Baptist Church, where he has been preaching and teaching since.
Sosthène and Joanne have been married since 2005 and have been blessed by God with four wonderful boys (Dorian, Davan Chris, Donovan Thélio, and David Sténio). Joanne has been a nurse since 2016 and works at Bruyère Hospital. Presently she is studying human relations and spirituality at Saint Paul University. Her main interests are ecosystem, preservation, and balance. She enjoys gardening in and out and most of all she likes counselling. Sosthène comes from a preacher family where his late father, his mother, his brother, and some cousins have graduated from Bible Seminary. He has a growing passion to understand the Word of God. His concern is that the Church becomes a real family where Christians truly love one another (John 13:34). Other than that, Sosthène is a musician who used to play guitar at church back in Haiti and now at Emmanuel Baptist Church he plays and sings from time to time for the glory of God. Sosthène is an actual philosophy teacher at Cegèp de l’Outaouais and holds a master’s degree in philosophy (University of Paris VIII, France). His other interests include reading, writing, guitar (music re-arrangement), ping-pong and badminton. And now he is studying the Bible part time at ETEC/Laval university.
