When figuring out the operational requirements of a new product or assembling household furniture or fixtures, we either read the instruction manual carefully or never even bother with it. Recently, a toilet installation went quite badly with several wax rings ruined, not to mention a puddle of sweat and scraped arms, all because the instructions on the reverse side of the product’s package was not first consulted. The changing of seals that lie underneath the onerously heavy white porcelain fixture became a backbreaking ordeal, more so then expected. My personal advice for anyone who wishes to undertake what may appear to you to be the easiest of tasks is to read the guidelines first, and taser whatever brazenness that may lead you to foolishly believe, that to tackle a job without due consideration to the instructions, which were boldly jettison to the back of the kitchen drawer was in hindsight a regrettable act indeed.

Manuals exist in a multitude of forms and have a sorted number of purposes. They are not an especially modern invention. The Bible can be described as a manual for life, to prepare you for the here and now, and in the hereafter. The Scriptures provides for us a Christian view of life and must be studied to understand what is going on around us and in the beyond. Take space travel and life on other planets for example. It is no secret that secular scientists have conceded to the supernatural element in their study of UFOs. John Keel, an American journalist and influential UFOlogist wrote:

The UFOs do not seem to exist as tangible, manufactured objects.   They do not conform to the natural laws of our environment.  They seem to be nothing more than transmogrifications tailoring  themselves to our abilities to understand. The thousand of contacts with the entities manifestations seem to be, by and large, merely minor variations of the age-old demonological phenomenon… (158-159, Alien Intrusion).

Keele goes on to say:

Demonology is not just another crackpot-ology.  It is the ancient and scholarly study of the monsters and demons who have seemingly coexisted with man throughout history. Thousands of books have been written on the subject, many of them authored by educated clergymen, scientists, and scholars and uncounted numbers of well-documented demonic events are readily available to every researcher…(pg. 260).

In addition, Ankerberg and Weldon paranormal investigators express their doubts that these entities are really aliens.

….Why would they (supposed aliens, mine) consistently lie about things which we know are true, and why would they purposefully deceive their contacts? (pg.159)

What we ardently learn from Scripture is that demons can travel at inter-dimensional speed. When Jesus encountered the devil in the wilderness we read of him moving from one location to another in what appeared to be a moment in time, from the mountain top to the pinnacle of the temple in Jerusalem (Matt 4:5-8); the devil can disguise himself in most any form, either as a serpent in the garden or disguise himself as an angel of light. (Ge.3:14 cf 2 Co. 11:14);   He is a liar and the father of lies. (John 8:44d).

What then is the purpose for this radical and deliberate masquerade job by demons? The Bible teaches that in the last days that false Christs and false prophets will appear to deceive many. Satan is behind these deceptions. The common thread that runs through UFOlogy is this myth of aliens coming from space to earth which gives rise to a religious brand of UFOlogists. Nearly half of Americans believe in aliens, and almost as many believe aliens are visiting earth, according to a new survey. However, less than 20% believe in alien abduction, and a bit less than that claim to have seen a UFO. (Huffpost, Aug 02, 2017). You can see how this work of Satan can deflect attention away from the True Creator and Redeemer of mankind, Jesus Christ. Satan seeks to change our directional markers, away from truth to invent his own and what better way then to con people into thinking that E.T. is somewhere out there from another solar system who continues to visit our planet. Satan has beguiled many into his deceptive ploy. A few quotes from authors Ken Ham & Don Batten from an informative little booklet titled Is There Intelligent Life In Outer Space:

Research has shown that people who are not affiliated with any church, but who claim that they are religious, are particularly susceptible to the possible existence of extraterrestrials. For them, UFOlogy is a substitute religion. (pg 12)

The devil has his own repertoire of deception in the form of various occult practises and a multitude of religious rites… People who do not know Christ are easily fascinated by all sorts of phenomena that are difficult to explain. (pg. 13, 14)

The Bible explicitly states that Satan is capable of great delusions.

Whose coming is according to the working of Satan with all power and signs and lying wonders, and with all deceit of unrighteousness in those who perish, because they did not receive the love of the truth, so that they might be saved. And that this cause God shall send them strong delusion, that they should believe a lie (2 Thess. 2:9-11).

The Bible is our manual that forms our Christian worldview and teaches us that God’s universe does not contain life on other planets or extraterrestrial life forms of any kind, as so many would like to think and instead speaks of another kingdom ruled by the devil and his demons which are behind the UFO phenomenon. The way to steer clear of this lie of the devil is to believe what the Bible says about your adversary the devil who prowls around like a roaring lion, seeking someone to devour. (1 Peter 5:8) Put your trust in Christ and His Word and the truth will set you free from the many lies and devilish falsehoods alive in our world today and deliver you from sin and condemnation that you may live in light of the truth and enjoy eternal life.
